2018 SBF CSA Week #4

HELLO RAIN!  And hello to each one of you!  Even though we spent some of our Saturday picking veggies for the coolers in the rain it was well worth it.  The cooler temps felt amazing.  And luckily we finished picking the last pint of strawberries just minutes before the storm let loose — strawberries aren’t very tasty after just getting rained on.  We’ve had some great help at the farm the last couple of weeks!  My (Jill’s) nephew has been staying with me for the last two weeks and you can thank him for each snow pea you ate.  He’s helped pick a lot of produce and his weight in weeds.  His stay will be coming to an end tomorrow and we’ll really miss his help.  He claims we haven’t worked him too hard, that he’s learned a ton, and best of all that he plans to return next summer!  Lastly, we want to thank each of you for returning a clean empty cooler each week.  It is much appreciated.  Enjoy your produce this week!

This week’s cooler contents:

-rainbow chard

-your choice of gooseberries or strawberries

-toscano kale

-napa cabbage

-cucumbers or peas

-garlic scapes

-asparagus

-parsley

THIS WEEK’S RECIPES

Your mouth will be watering with each bite of this Black Rice with Roasted Garlic Scapes and Asparagus.

Take your dressing to the next level with your garlic scapes in this blue cheese dressing recipe.

Superfood salad is the perfect recipe to use your kale in.  I make this recipe at least once a week.  So yummy, yet healthy!
