Herbs

STORAGE: Basil should be stored unwashed on the counter standing upright in a jar contaning about an inch of water.  Just like a bouquet of flowers. Change water as needed or as it discolors.  Parsley and cilantro should be stored the same way as basil, however, place a plastic bag over the top of the herbs and place in refrigerator.  All other herbs listed below should be stored by arranging the herbs lengthwise in a single layer on a slightly damp paper towel. Loosely roll up the herbs and transfer to a resealable plastic bag or in plastic wrap. Store in the refrigerator.
COOKING TIPS:  Adding herbs at the beginning of your cooking will create a subtle background note. If at the end you find you want to punch up the flavor, just add a bit more for reinforcement.
