Hello from the farm. We are at week 5 of the CSA season. The crops are progressing nicely. At least they like the heat and humidity. 😊 We have switched from mostly leafy vegetables to an assortment of root crops this week. We have Chioggia beets, which are red and white (candy cane)striped inside. They are an heirloom beet, and very tasty. We also have watermelon radishes. They have an off white outside, with a hint of green, then transition to pink/red on the inside. We also have some tokyo white turnips (they are the ones with the tops cut off). And for the first time, we have carrots in this week’s cooler. We had to dodge the rain showers again today, but we managed to get some kale picked….we didn’t want you to be completely leafless this week. 😉
We are keeping a close eye on the tomato crop, and it looks like we should be picking some cherry tomatoes in the very near future. We hope you all enjoy this week’s produce and recipes. Please remember you can find many more recipes in our recipe library.
Have a great week.
