Turnips


IN SEASON: May, June, September, October
STORAGE: Wash and trim tops/leaves to 1/2 inch.  Store in plastic bag in the refrigerator.  Can also be stored in a cold and moist area, such as a cellar.  In these conditions, turnips should last 1 month or more.
COOKING TIPS:  Turnips have quite a thick outer skin, approximately 1/4 inch.  You should be able to see a distinct line between the skin and the flesh when the turnip is cut in half.
