Surprises every Saturday!

By: Meghan Winegrad (Nov 4, 2013)

We loved everything about this CSA experience and would give it 10 stars if we could! It was so much fun to get that cooler every weekend… and then a challenge to figure out just what to do with some of the veggies that don’t usually find their ways into our fridge on a regular basis! Today we enjoyed the SBCSA end-of-season event with our kids. We got to pick anything and everything not yet destroyed by the recent frost (including leafy greens, potatoes, broccoli and more), and the kids got to play with the animals and go on a hayride. We can’t wait for next summer!

Look Forward to Saturdays!

By: Lynda Black (Aug 17, 2013)

This is the second year we’ve participated in the Shared Bounty CSA. We love the variety and have had the opportunity to try many new types of produce such as fresh beets, squash and kohlrabi. I look forward to the email Friday evenings before we pick up our cooler on Saturdays so I can begin planning how I’ll use the produce.  SBCSA has been great to work with as well. On the weeks I may not be able to use everything right away, we’ve been quick to share with close friends so they can enjoy the fresh produce, too. Joining the Shared Bounty CSA has been a great way to get fresh produce and a plus has been the friendship we’ve made with SBCSA .

Local and quality produce!

By: Teresa Roth (Jun 19, 2010)

I am proud to be a shareholder in Shared Bounty CSA. I am always so excited to see what the week’s delivery will be! The convenience is unparalleled; the newsletter is e-mailed to me and the produce is delivered to my doorstep. There is something so satisfying about preparing and consuming food that is locally grown! I have enjoyed my favorite veggies (zucchini, broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce, potatoes, herbs, strawberries) but have also had the opportunity to experiment with produce that I normally wouldn’t have (kale, swiss chard.) The brown eggs are delicious as well. Their website is easy to navigate and informational, and I look forward to visiting the farm!!!

Great Experience!

By: Barbara Reynolds (Jul 22, 2013)

This has been our first experience with a CSA and it has been wonderful! The Prouhet’s deliver super fresh vegetables and fruit every Saturday. They even rescheduled our delivery and dropped off our cooler during the week after our neighborhood was inaccessible after a storm one Saturday. We love getting recipes along with our weekly email. Highly recommended!

Love Shared Bounty CSA!

By: Amber Miller (Oct 27, 2012)

This is our 2nd year with the Prouhets and they have out done themselves yet again. This year was a tough one with the weather giving farmers a run for their money but the Prouhets still provided a heaping ice chest full of produce like clock work every Saturday morning.  SBCSA works their tail-ends off and are very gracious about their shares. We are a family of 6 on a very tight budget that moved here from Oklahoma. Shared Bounty has been our first and so far only CSA experience and they consistently out do themselves. Receiving much attention by the news community for their diligent work. Their farm is beautiful and constantly growing. Always a warm welcome and produce available just as a CSA should be. Thankful Happy Consumers, The Miller Family 🙂

Enjoyed Shared Bounty CSA!

By: Linda Alonzo (Oct 25, 2012)

This was our first experience with a CSA and we definitely enjoyed it! There’s only two adults at home these days so the half share was sufficient for us. There were many items we were very familiar with and loved receiving them straight from the farm (potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn, tomatoes, cantelope), but the real fun was in all the veggies we’d never before had fresh (i.e. not out of a can) such as beets and the veggies we’d never even seen before (yellow cauliflower, kohlarabi, various summer and winter squash). We received an email every week, the night before the delivery, that informed us what items we’d be receiving and recipes for how to use. Searching the internet also produced an incredible number of recipes for the items I wasn’t yet sure how to prepare. We enjoyed the experience and will be signing up again for the 2013 season!

Great veggies!

By: Kate Leary (Oct 23, 2012)

This was our first CSA experience in MO, having moved here from central NY state. We just loved all the variety and the freshness of local veggies from May to October. We looked forward to our Saturday delivery each week. A full share was more than enough for our family of two veggie-loving adults and two school-age children. I froze lots of green beans and other things and we shared lots with friends. We will definitely sign up again next year.

Tasty!

By: Gwen Best (Jul 30, 2012)

This is our first experience with a CSA. It’s been a good one. Jim provides a huge variety delivered straight to your door. You can’t get more convenient than that! The peaches were as sweet as candy. My kids couldn’t get enough of them. We’ll definitely be back next year.

Wonderful!!

By: Barbara Johannes (Jul 23, 2012)

Our First experience with a CSA and we have all really enjoyed working with Jim and his hard working crew! It has been a very hard year for farmers here with high temps and drought but you sure would not know it by the wonderful produce we get each week. Great food and it has really stirred us up to try new things. There really is not anything like great fresh food. I can’t reccomend Shared Bounty enough! They send us recipes and wonderful food right to the door . What more can you possibly ask for!! Wow the peaches and tomatoes this week were the best ever! I am ready to sign up for next year already.

Five Stars!

By: Margaret Scavotto (Aug 22, 2011)

This is our first summer with the Shared Bounty CSA and we can’t say enough good things about it. We opted for the 1/2 share, delivered, for 2 people. The delivery charge is well worth it, a cooler of produce appears on your doorstep every Saturday. If you cook every night, the full share might work for 2 people. We like to eat out a couple times a week and also buy a few things from the local farmer’s market, so the 1/2 share was perfect for us. The produce is both gorgeous and delicious, and includes greens, kale, eggplant, strawberries, potatoes, lots of fresh herbs, kohl rabi, butternut squash, broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, cucumbers, corn, tomatoes, etc. Every week there are several different kinds of vegetables. The night before, Jim sends out a newsletter with the delivery contents, plus recipes for everything in the box. Two of the veggies we had never tried before (kale and kohl rabi) turned out to be our favorites. I definitely recommend this CSA as a great way to commit to locally and responsibly grown food.

Highly Satisfied!

By: Mike Crecelius (Jul 13, 2011)

This is my first experience with a CSA subscription and I am totally on board. I feel I’ve always eaten “healthy” meals but this has taken me to a new level. I share my weekly delivery with folks at work and everyone agrees the quality of the food is greatly superior to what we are used to at our grocery stores. I thought new potatoes couldn’t be improved upon until tasting Shared Bounty’s. I would never have thought to try beets untill I received them last week; I’m a new fan. We made turnip fries last week; they were the best “fries” I’ve ever had.

Highly Recommended!

By: Scott Kane (Jul 1, 2011)

This is our first year with Shared Bounty and we went with a full share. I was concerned because my last experience many years ago with a different CSA was underwhelming bags of field greens. But Jim put my concerns to rest! Each week he brings a great mix of items all of excellent quality right to our door. We have been enjoying old favorites and have gotten to try some new favorites. We went with the egg option and have been equally happy with the size and quality of the eggs we get each week. If you’re thinking about a CSA my advice is to go for it and buy your share from Shared Bounty before it sells out.

Great Experience!

By: Nicole Helm (Jun 27, 2011)

This is my family’s first year trying a CSA and we have been very happy with Shared Bounty. I had always wanted to try a CSA but was leery about it because I am a very picky eater. We went with a half portion, and have been very pleased. The produce has been top notch and our family of three has tried a lot of things we would have never picked up at the grocery store. We look forward to the newsletter each week of what we can expect and possible recipes to use. I had high hopes for this experience, and Shared Bounty has gone above and beyond what I hoped for. I would highly recommend them to anyone interested in CSA food. We have already decided we will be doing this again next year. Shared Bounty is excellent!

Awesome, easy CSA!

By: Kate Wilson (Jun 27, 2011)

This is my first season with Shared Bounty, after a (full) year splitting a share using FairShares. I love that Shared Bounty just does veggies, as I’m mostly vegetarian, and that they do half-shares. The delivery option is so easy – just set out an empty cooler in the morning and by the time I get home I have plenty of food for the week! All produce has been incredibly fresh (complete with some farm friends, aka caterpillars…protein!), and the videos (posted on youtube) are always entertaining. There’s a weekly newsletter sent out to the members with the list of produce for the week as well as recipes including everything, in case you aren’t sure what to do with all the veggies. The eggs are delicious (and huge)! It’s great to know that everything is grown just down the road, and I’m looking forward to more. As the season goes on, we’re getting a larger selection in the weekly box – so exciting! The half-share is definitely too much food for one person, but it’s great to share.

The Kids are eating VEGGIES!!

By: Stephanie Greiner (Jun 27, 2011)

We joined Shared Bounty this year, 2011, and we’ve been VERY happy with our experience. We purchased a 1/2 share and our family of 4 (2 toddlers, 2 adults) has really enjoyed opening our cooler each Saturday morning! Shared Bounty has kept us informed and sent amazing newsletters with great recipes each week! We get a great variety of herbs, veggies and fruit and my kids have tried EVERYTHING (even the purple kohlrabi)! This is the first time my two little ones have tried so many different varieties…they may not love it all but if I say, “It came from the farm!” They are more apt to trying and it’s been a huge success. We’re very happy with Shared Bounty, they do an excellent job and we’re looking forward to the rest of the season and many growing seasons to come!!!

Great Experience!

By: Margaret Cochran (Jun 17, 2010)

This is our first experience with a CSA and it has been great! We love having the food delivered to our doorstep each week, the produce is very clean and healthy and I love that we are eating more healthy foods now. I confess it worried my family that we would be eating a lot of veggies now but so far no complaints! I will be delighted to sign up again next year!

Shared Bounty Excels!

By: Kim May (Jun 17, 2010)

This is my first experience with a CSA, and I couldn’t be happier. The offerings from the farm have been at the peak of perfection. Everything has been amazingly tasty, superlatively fresh, and responsibly grown. I relish the wide variety of produce and herbs as a welcome weekly culinary challenge. I am proud to support this fine farming family. SBCSA has been most kind, considerate, and very eager to please. They have gone above and beyond to care for their shareholders. My only hope is that they keep it up for many years to come – I’ll be a lifelong customer. Thank you! Kim

Great products/great people!

By: Linda Pallmann (Jun 13, 2010)

This is my first time participating in a CSA but Jim and his family do such a first rate job that I am completely convinced this is the only way to buy food. I like supporting the local guy and enjoying the fresh produce as it comes into season. I am also grateful for the posting of suggested recipes for the harvest since I have never tasted some of these vegetables. I’m glad some of these things, turnips for example, were delivered to my door since I probably never would have bought them, but tried the recipe and really like them. Hurrah for new adventures! Jim also has the personal touch by adding the jelly or pot holders made by his mom along with a little note. If he ever has any openings, I would hardily suggest joining! Linda

Thrilled!

By: Kay Lundry (Jun 13, 2010)

I too am a 2010 share member with Shared Bounty. I am so thrilled with everyone and everything associated with this farm and family! Jim’s produce is amazing! Fresh herbs and eggs are also included in our deliveries! He emails a newsletter with the weeks’ items listed as well as recipes and helpful hints for the produce. We were even given “bonus” (apple butter and a quilted potholder)items that his mother made for each of the share members! I feel confident that this is one of the most well run CSAs out there and I am looking forwrd to being a part Shared Bounty for years to come!

The Farm that feeds me well!

By: Mona Van Vooren (Jun 12, 2010)

I drove out to Troy to see for myself… after all, it is the food I would be eating… and I found a nice family and a good farm. So this is my first experience with CSAs. I decided that organic food should be the only type I want to eat, and that I want to give my money to the very people who grow the food for me. After all, they deserve it! I have now received my 4th delivery of the season, and I am enjoying kale, bog choy, strawberries, new potatoes, lots of salads and field greens, red beets, broccoli, cauliflower, herbs, farm eggs, and I am sure I forgot a thing or two. I love that it is harvested and brought right to me: nobody but the one who picked it and delivered it, had touched it, before it gets to me! Jim and his family are such friendly and honest people, I feel good about having joined them! I look forward to many more seasons of harvest adventures with the Shared Bounty Farm!
