2017 SBF CSA Week #5

Hello Shared Bounty Subscribers!  Despite the rain, it’s been another busy week here at the farm — pruning tomato plants, preparing for a field trip, weeding (the job that never ever goes away), and transplanting fall crop seedlings.  That’s right, we said fall crops.  It seems like just yesterday we were transplanting the spring crops.  Time really does fly when you’re having fun.  We’ve got some great produce in the coolers this week along with some great recipes.  Enjoy bringing the farm to your table this week!

Cooler Contents:

*early jersey wakefield cabbage

*toscano kale

*Asian greens

*spring onions

*Chioggia beets

*blueberries

*cucumbers

SPOTLIGHT RECIPES

These creamy cucumbers are a Lunnemann family favorite with grilled hamburgers.

We don’t know how anyone could possibly get tired of roasted beets, but give this chioggia beet salad a try if you’re looking for something different to do with your beets this week.

It’s great weather for grilling, so throw some cabbage on the grill the next time you fire it up to make this grilled cabbage with spicy lime dressing recipe.

Blueberries are great for breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner!  Please some breakfast guests or family members with these lemon blueberry biscuits.
