2017 SBF CSA Week #14

Hi SBF Subscribers!  We hope all that had planned to view the eclipse on Monday were able to do so!  As mentioned in last week’s newsletter, we were anxious to see how the chickens would react.  Well, we’re here to report that they did absolutely nothing!  However, the farm was just north of totality, so we’re guessing that really impacted the chickens lack of reaction, not to mention we know we have some really brave and tough ladies!  🙂  Overall, we give the eclipse two big thumbs up!  And to make up for the lack of exciting eclipse chicken news, we decided to add to our flock today (8/26)!  Brandy, one of our new baby girls is pictured below.  She, along with her 14 new friends, are planned to start laying in February 2018.  In addition to our exciting chicken news, we’ve got a number of scrumptious veggies in this week’s cooler, including the first winter squash and some stanley plums that taste great eaten fresh.  Lastly, we’d like to remind everyone that there will be no deliveries or pick ups next week.  Week #15 deliveries and pick ups will be Sunday, 9/10 or Thursday, 9/14.  Have a great week and safe Labor Day!
